Lívia is a visiting scholar in Dr. Riley’s lab, working on her PhD dissertation. Her current work focuses on characterizing genomic differences in Acinetobacter baumannii clonal complexes that are both phenotypically resistant and susceptible to carbapenems.
Isolates belonged to CC79 A. baumannii, were obtained from bloodstream infectionsand caused more deaths amongpatients infected with carbapenem susceptible strains. The strategy is to study some genomic differences that could explain the higher mortality rate in those infected with CC79 carbapenem-susceptible isolates.
